Aminu Ahmeed has over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry. Ahmeed is a seasoned financial expert known for his strategic vision, operational excellence, and strong leadership capabilities.
In his current role as Head of Risk Management at Opticom Finance Limited, Ahmeed is responsible for identifying, assessing, and ensuring that emerging risks which may affect the business’s operational efficiency are proactively managed and mitigated. He leads the implementation of effective risk management strategies, ensures ongoing regulatory compliance, and fosters collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Ahmeed is highly skilled at inspiring and leading cross-functional teams, cultivating a positive organizational culture, and navigating market dynamics to drive innovation and resilience.
He holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Statistics (Upper Credit Division) from the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, and an MBA in Financial Management from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology. In addition, Ahmeed has completed a wide range of professional courses and certifications, including: Certified Transformational Leadership, Certified Agile Essentials: A Practical Guide to the Agile Process, Decision Making in Planning & Workflow Management – Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, Anti-Money Laundering / Combating the Financing of Terrorism / Counter Proliferation Financing (AML/CFT/CPF) – CBN & DBN, Emerging Markets, Cyber Risk, and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Risk Management, among others.
He is a member of professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), and is ISO/IEC 27001 Information Security Management System (ISMS) Certified.
Before joining Opticom Finance Limited, Ahmeed held various roles in reputable financial institutions such as Union Assurance PLC, Nigeria, AB Microfinance Bank Nigeria (a subsidiary of Access Holding, Berlin, Germany), Primera Microfinance Bank (a subsidiary of Primera Africa, now Koins Bank), and worked as Head, Risk and Asset Management at CFS Finance Company Limited.
